Dentures

The use of your mouth for eating, talking, and interacting with others has a meaningful impact on your life.  Hence, getting dentures is a major life decision.  Dr. Jacqueline Hughes knows the challenges and the results that dentures offer patients.  She makes every effort to make every denture treatment one that is comfortable, dignifying, and healthy.

Dentures improve your quality of life in several ways, including:

  • Support your jaw bones and facial tissues
  • Allows you to chew normally
  • Reduces gum disease
  • Gives a more natural smile

If you are considering dentures, feel free to schedule an appointment at Mercersburg Family Dentistry.  We will help you to find the best approach for your oral situation.

Replacing Existing Dentures

Do you have existing dentures?  Over time, dentures can lose their form, wear down, stain, and even break. Additionally, the size and shape of your mouth will gradually begin to change.  Oral changes can cause your dentures to become uncomfortable. Schedule a visit to Dr. Jacqueline Hughes if:

  • You are experiencing discomfort from your dentures
  • You have had dentures longer than 5 years
  • You are seeing an increased need for using denture adhesives

The American Dental Association recommends replacing dentures every 5 to 7 years.  We find this to be correct.  Denture designs are meant to last; however, the rigors of the mouth’s environment can break them down within 5 years.  If you find that your dentures are breaking down or are not as comfortable, make an appointment with us.  Mercersburg Family Dentistry can make denture repairs and adjustments in the office while you wait.  We can also fit you for new dentures if needed.

How long does it take for new dentures?

It will not take us very long to give you a new smile. After a short exam, we can get the fitting process underway. Dr. Hughes will figure out the timeframe needed between the fitting for immediate dentures and the arrival of your permanent dentures.
